Can I run a 1 1/2'; drain line for clothes washer?

Please respond only if you really know

Can I use an 1-1/2'; drain line for a clothes washer instead of a 2'; line?

ThanksCan I run a 1 1/2'; drain line for clothes washer?
The minimum drain pipe size for a clothes washer is 2 inches and the minimum drain pipe size for a kitchen sink is 1 1/2 inches. You could either upsize the drain pipe for the washer to a 2 inch drain with a 1 1/2 inch vent through the roof that would accomodate both fixtures, or install separate 1 1/2 inch drain line for the new kitchen sink with a 1 1/4 vent through the roof. By the way, all these sizes are minimums per the uniform plumbing code. You can use a larger size if you wish. Can I run a 1 1/2'; drain line for clothes washer?
no

I work with mobile homes all the time, and they used 1 1/2 drain lines for the washers. Older washers would work fine, however the new washers have such a high output of water we have to put in a threaded adapter install a barbed fitting and hose clamp the line to keep it from overflowing.
No.

Although the code might be different elsewhere,

here in California, it's 2';.

What do you think of stupid warning labels on products like '; Do not stick your child in Washer ';?

..are people that dumb ?

I saw on a stroller the other day in the little tiny storage pouch it had.. '; Never Stick Child In Bag ';What do you think of stupid warning labels on products like '; Do not stick your child in Washer ';?
';..are people that dumb ?';

Yes.What do you think of stupid warning labels on products like '; Do not stick your child in Washer ';?
They put those on their products to protect themselves from lawsuits. For instance: Remember the lady who sued McDonald's because she burned herself on hot coffee? Well DUH, coffee is supposed to be hot!
The bad thing is, that there is a reason for those label and warnings, that is very scary indeed.....

umm.... sure? If it's the Chapstick chapstick brand then I do know that the seal connecting the cap to stick is pretty solid.

wow, i haven't heard of one of those in a long, long time, like back in the 60's or 70's was the last time, i'll bet. i hope that you still have the old ones so that you can get them matched. you are dealing with fractional horsepower here so you can't use belts made for cars. try a good, old fashioned hardware store, not a big box home improvement center. if that doesn't work, try an auto parts store, or lawn equipment parts and repair shop. tell them that it is for fractional horsepower, if they can't help you, see if they can steer you in the right direction for these belts. good luck, hope you find something.Where can i find belts for a antique hoover spin dryer washer?
you might have to try a lawnmower belt
possibly a vacuum repair shop too....

My ipod got washed and i pulled it out before the washer spinned will it work again what should i do?

if it got wet (wich im guessing happened) dont try turning it on. . just leave it alone for a few days to let the water dry.then try turning it on.or incase it doensnt turn on do a restart by holding the menu and center buttons for a while. or connect it to your computer/charger. if nothing happens im afraid your out of luck. try calling apple support as well at 1-800-275-2273My ipod got washed and i pulled it out before the washer spinned will it work again what should i do?
Odds are good that the little guy is dead. You could try opening the case and letting it sit out somewhere for a day or so to dry out...but there are no guarantees that it will ever work again.

Should I take my washer/dryer to Bamberg, Germany?

My husband's getting stationed in Bamberg in January, and I need to know whether I should take my washer and dryer. I've heard that they won't work because the voltage is different, that the Army will loan you replacements while you are there, and that you need to take your own. Obviously, these can't all be true. We'll be living on post (where I've _heard_ there's dual voltage) and it would be great to hear from someone who really knows the answer.Should I take my washer/dryer to Bamberg, Germany?
You are authorized to take your washer and dryer. You can take any of your household goods.

That being said, NO I would not take my washer and dryer (and we didnt). On post housing (most likely stairwell housing) has washer and dryers for everyone to use. Some places will have a common area with several washers and dryers for the whole building to use and some will have them in your apartment. Not all housing on each base had dual voltage. Depends on what housing area you get and live in.

I would also not bring any of your small applainices like blenders, mixers, toaster, microwave, etc.,. These little guys have to be plug into the big transformer which can cost about $150-$200 (yes that much). It is cheaper to buy the german brands at IKEA or Walmart or another local German Store.

Advice: Get out and travel. Don't stay on base and complain about being in Germany. You will hate it there if you do. We loved it there, went to 15 other countries while we were there, some severals times. Take advantage of being there. A good book to buy is ';Never A Dull Moment'; http://www.awag.us/book.htm This book list almost every village in German and what to do there, how much it is, directions, what they take for payment, hours open, etc.,. Very useful while we were there.

Use the train system. The Bahnhof is an excellent way to travel. Also check out Ryan Air, great way to fly and cheap. http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/

Good luck and have fun.Should I take my washer/dryer to Bamberg, Germany?
No you cannot take your washer and dryer with you. All military housing comes with washer and dryer that you have to share with other families within your building. I know in my building there was a washer and dryer for each apartment (6) total. I can tell you that in Bamberg there is not a whole lot there. We lived in Schweinfurt which is your neighboring city. Other than that travel as much as you can...Germany is beautiful and exciting place to visit. So much history!!!
You are not authorized to take them with you. FMO (furniture management) will have them for you to borrow if you live off post, and there will be W/D in the apts. if you live on post.

Now... DO take your lamps! All you need is an adapter plug from the PX and a 220 lightbulb and you're good to good! (That's another horrible rumor.. can't take your lamps! )

Edit: never heard of ANYONE being authorized W/D shipment to Europe. PCS to Germany - 1997, PCS to UK - 2006. Both times it was on the not allowed list!
Nope. Voltage is 220V and the plugs are different. You will not be able to find a transformer for something that takes this much electricity. Plus European washers are so much better, I hate the - cold, warm, hot setting on American's , Euro ones have all kinds of settings from temperature to kind of clothes, I feel my clothes is cleaner there. Dryers are not that common. They are not uncommon but a lot of people do not have them. They are also all electrical, not gas ones ever.

Now, if the post have dual voltage it is something to consider. Can you contact them and ask about the voltage there?

BTW, Bamberg has one of the most beautiful cathedrals out there!
    Don't do it.

What you should do is get some big, heavy-duty transformers for any electronics/appliances you love and/or don't want to re-buy on this side. Get these transformers in the States as they are a fraction of the price and, if you get a big enough one (e.g. 2000-5000 watt) you can plug in a power strip and run just about all your goods. I got five and my whole flat is running 110v!
I did not take my set when we lived in Wuerzburg Germany. And I chose not to live on the post. We had plenty transformers to plug in our american equipment and they worked fine. We went on post to wash our clothes or used the german equivalent to our laundry centers. So if you choose to take yours, make sure you have a transformer.

  • I get a rotten egg smell coming up sink drains through out the house when my washer or kitchen sink drains.?

Anytime when all is standing I don't have this smell, not even just running water. The water in a glass has no smell like eggs. How do I get rid of this?I get a rotten egg smell coming up sink drains through out the house when my washer or kitchen sink drains.?
the washer is draining out our trap due to syphoning it out. Check that the vent line through the roof is not plugged or restricted.I get a rotten egg smell coming up sink drains through out the house when my washer or kitchen sink drains.?
This happens alot in our parents-in-law basement. The sink down there rarely gets used and the water in the trap evaporates causing a drain smell (yuck!). I just run warm water with a bit of bleach down the drain and it clears it up.
Most likely, the water in the traps is evaporating. Run water in all sinks for a minute to assure they are full.

I see this a lot in houses that have sat vacant for some time. Good luck.
Try putting a little bit of baking soda in each of your sinks, and run hot water over it. The hot water can help to get any residual grease from inside the pipes, and the baking soda is a natural deodorizer.

Which is the best washer and dryer for a budget of $1500?

I am a Kenmore (spelling?) person and have been for a long time.

Last year my old Dryer died and I went to Sears and bought a new Dryer. It works great, however now I wish I would of bought the Stacking Washer and Dryer. I had the room for it and it certainly would of taken less floor space. Sounds like your budget can handle their prices. Check it out!Which is the best washer and dryer for a budget of $1500?
Kenmore - my dryer is 25 yrs old and Im now on my 2nd washer in that time frame.

Reliable, easy to find service, priced right.

The type of laundry should also be considered. A heavy duty washer will wash more clothes at once. A heavy duty dryer the same. A smaller washer take fewer clothes, thus you may have more loads. I love the front loading washers, with no agitator. But be careful to not overload them. They do hold more clothes and I think get things cleaner....Which is the best washer and dryer for a budget of $1500?
I like those new Maytag Neptune's. They are like $699 each if you catch them at the right place. Front loaders already use less water and I hear these use even less and less energy too! A little spendy but I'll spend a little more to do my part.

Can i convert 220v washer for usa use?

if i bring my 220/240v washer and drier home from germany, what do i have to do to run them in the usa?Can i convert 220v washer for usa use?
This is a simple solution, but requires knowledge and

skill in Electrical Fixtures and Electricity. First off; the

Power there in Europe and the united kingdom, runs at

50 Cycles per second, NOT 60! This can be confusing,

but not that big a deal. The first thing you should do is

take a look at the back of the Unit, and see if there is

a diagram of how you should go about hooking the unit

up. In Germany, one side of the outlet is 200 Volts A.C,

and the other side is the Neutral, or return. The round

pin is, of course, ground. When wiring up anything that

requires a fair amount of power to operate, you must, as

always, observe all safety procedures, and local codes.

As in a standard hook up with a Domestic Stove or Dryer,

This will be performed in the same manner, with a very

important exception, if required. On the back of the Imported

unit, if there is a diagram on how to convert the unit for

Domestic use, you are all set. Contacting the Manufacturer

would be a good idea, if the back plate is of no help, and

ask them if this modification can be done to insure safe

operation. Since our Power is a 'double sided' 110 to 120

Volts A.C, with the two together, you get your 220 to 240

Volts A.C, depending on your location... it will vary a few

volts, not an issue. To picture this, looking at a 220/240

Domestic Stove, Welder, or Clothes Dryer, One side is

120 Volts, the other side is 120 Volts, 180 degrees out of

phase with the first (left) side. The two, measured across,

will add to 240 Volts A.C. Note the rating of the Unit in

question: the Back Plate should tell you the Power in Watts,

the Voltage required, and the Amps, or amount of power it

requires to operate. Note this, and choose the appropriate

rating of Circuit Breaker to be installed in your Load Center.

You might want to contact a qualified Electrician, or a friend

who works on this kind of electrical equipment 4 a living, if

you feel you cannot handle the task at hand. Selection of a

Circuit Breaker is pretty easy. If the appliance draws a max.

of, say 12.8 Amps, at motor start, Then a 15 or a 20 Amp.

Double Pole Breaker would be a good choice. Select the wire

with a gage that will handle this power safely, without incident.

In this case, I would use #10 AWG wire, with a good insulation

jacket. Now, you should choose a 240 Volt Outlet, Box, and

the right cover, and depending on the distance from the Load

Center to the Washer you wish to install, you can calculate

the length of conduit and wire required to complete the job.

Now, the Imported unit: One terminal, or 'side' of th unit's

connection is 200 Volts; the other side is Neutral, or maybe

even ground. This is what you need to do: Make sure one

side of the unit is not connected to the Enclosure. If it is, lift

off this wire, mark it 'Ground Only', and connect it to the

Green wire of the 'Pig Tail' that will plug into the Receptacle

you have chosen for this installation. Now you should be able

to connect your Hot wires remaining. With the guidelines

of the Manufacturer, you should be able to do this without

a problem. If you already have a Electric Dryer, you could

save some time and money, and add an additional outlet

in parallel with the Dryer's Outlet, without worrying about

the Circuit Breaker in the Load Center. As always, turn off

all power (the breaker) going to this outlet. You should have

no problems, at this point. Feel free 2 e-me! I hope this was

    of some help 2 U!

Clothes washer repair. I need to get to the motor of the washer. How do I get to it if it has casing around it?

If the motor and transmission are a sealed unit, they are meant to be replaced as a sealed unit. There are no user-servicable parts inside, because you can't buy the parts to put in that unit. If the motor is shot, go to a used appliance outlet, and buy a used unit from them.Clothes washer repair. I need to get to the motor of the washer. How do I get to it if it has casing around it?
If by casing all around you mean you cannot tip it over and see the motor?

If so then, if it is like mine, you have to go in from the top. Take off the top and look down inside. I cannot remember if the tub has to be pulled out or if it is assessable with the tub in place. It is a real PITA compared to washing machines of the 70's.

Is it OK to put bathroom rugs in your washer/dryer?

It is o.k. to wash them on a regular cycle in warm water, then air dry only using no heat which will remove lint, then hang to dry.

A hot dryer will cause the backing to dry out and crumble over time.Is it OK to put bathroom rugs in your washer/dryer?
You have to be care full. If the rug has any type of rubber that can break off then I would not do it. The rugs I have don't have it and they do wash, but you can only do it a few times before the rug starts to deteriorate. Is it OK to put bathroom rugs in your washer/dryer?
I have done it before. Make sure you wash on gentle cycle and use warm water when you wash them and low heat if you dry them. If they get too hot the rubber backing will melt. I usually wash mine and let them air dry. I also like to use an extra spin cycle to get out some extra water.
i do it all the time and also throw them into the dryer. never had any problems, but do get a lot of lint in the trap.make sure you clean out the lint trap before the next load.
I did that once and it destroyed the rubber backing on the rug.

I may have put it in the wrong setting.

    I don't remember.

Just read the cleaning instructions that comes with the rug.
Depends on the rug. I have a rubber-backed one. It's good quality, so it's never come apart.

Maybe you should stick with a cold wash and light dry.
I always do! Just put it on gentle w/ cold water and use minimum detergent. Then lay them flat to dry!
Yes if it is put in with something else to balance the load

95 Grand Cherokee - wiper works in low, high and washer modes but stopped in delay mode(s).Any ideas? Thanks?

If the interval (delay) function is inoperative, check the continuity of all the wiring between the switch and the wiper control module, located at the wiper motor. If the wiring is OK, check the resistance of the delay control knob of the multi-function switch. If these results are satisfactory, REPLACE the wiper control module.

yes it sounds like a timer went out but could be a number of things. Will it drain also. fill ? What brand is it? check your lid switch to see if it broke. If it is a tab on the lid that presses down on a switch in a slot on the top you can reach into the area between the top and the basket and push up on the switch body. The washer won't spin or drain and shows e21 error code, what does it mean? Can I possibly fix it myself? In no way can I afford a repair call or new washer now!!! PLEASE HELP!! : )Affinity washer error message?
E21 is slow drain. this means there is something clogging the filter in the hose from the tub to the pump. 1. unplug unit. 2. remove bottom access panel on the front. 3 be ready for water to spill lots of towels you can throw them back in washer when this procedure is done, so don't worry, pack the towels around the hose that comes from the bottom of the tub to the the pump 4 remove the clamp holding the tub to the pump 5 gentle remove the hose this is where you may get wet 6 reach into the hose you will feel a filter (cup like with holes in it) work is out of the hose it will be tuff but it will come out 8 now you have it in your hand clean it out all good 9 put it back it must be there so don't think of leaving it out , you must push it all the way back down until it is set in the grove for the lip of the basket. 10 reassemble the unit

now if you unit doesn't have the front panel then you should call a repair person because the front will need to come off to get to the pump. You can access for the back but then the job becomes 10 fold harder to do. Rear Windshield washer problem on 2001 GMC Jimmy?

the rear wiper works fine, and the pump works i can hear it. if i hold in the button washer fluid comes from a rubber component near the back of the truck. does anyone know how i can fix this or if a hose is supposed to be attached there? the rubber spot is right above the muffler.Rear Windshield washer problem on 2001 GMC Jimmy?
There should be a hose attatched to the rear pump. Locate that hose and see why it's not attatched. Over time the rubber will dry-rot and occasionally break off. You may need to install a new piece of hose to fix the problem. If it is attatched, disconnect it at both ends and try to blow through it to see if it's clogged up. If that doesn't work, run a safety pin in the end of the nozzle to clear the nozzle tip. Good luck.

  • Can I put my feather pillows in the washer and will they fluff back up in the dryer?

Yes, you can but take a precaution and wash it inside a zippered pillow case if you have one...that way if the pillow busts open, you won't have feathers all over the washer/dryer and in the drain pipe. Add a pair of gym shoes to the wash and dry cycle and the gym shoes will beat the pillow till its fluffy while its drying. If you don't want to wash your gym shoes, add tennis balls to the dryer and they'll do almost as good a job.

The fabric a feather pillow is encased in has a very tight weave so it will take awhile before the water can get in - it will also take a rather long time to dry.

One last thing, wash two pillows at the same time so your wash won't be side weighted or wash some large towels so when the washer spins the weight will be evened out.Can I put my feather pillows in the washer and will they fluff back up in the dryer?

I wouldn't imagine this is a good idea. Bird feathers naturally have oil on them to repel water, hence they ';bathe'; without messing up the feathers. But you will be using detergent - which will remove this oil.Can I put my feather pillows in the washer and will they fluff back up in the dryer?
throw a couple of tennis balls in the dryer with them
Yes. Get a feather. Wet it and test it. Birds have feathers and they take a bath and their feathers fluff back. Like nature.
wouldn't try it. Too difficult to get all the feathers to dry. I suggest hanging them in the sun for about 6 hours.
Here is what I found on this subject:

Washing Down Pillows: You can wash your down pillows, but we do not recommend that you do it at home, or in an agitator machine. Use a front loading commercial washer with regular non-bleach detergent.

Before washing make sure that the fabric is not too old or deteriorated from body oils, or weakened from age. After washing, while the down is wet, you may notice a pungent odor. This is natural with all down products, and will disappear when the down items are completely dry.

Be certain to dry your items very thoroughly so they don't mildew.

It will take about 3 hours to dry 2 pillows, perhaps much longer for a down comforter, using a large commercial dryer on medium heat. Commercial dryers can get very hot and burn your down comforter or pillows, so take them out and fluff regularly when drying and check for overheating. Make sure the comforter or pillows have plenty of room to toss and fluff as they dry. Put a tennis ball or two, in a clean white sock, in with your comforter or pillows to help separate and fluff the down clusters as they dry.
i have tried it before and they come out lumpy. You can never get them back the way they were

WHIRLPOOL washer model #LBR4132JQ1 leaks on large load not small?

If your going to say hole in tub don't know how to check tub it has holes in inter tub do i have to take top off and how ..... could it just be the load selector button don't work on large and how do i check that takes to much time to do all small loads Thanks for all answersWHIRLPOOL washer model #LBR4132JQ1 leaks on large load not small?
It could very well be a slice in the outer tub. To check, you need to remove the cabinet shell. About 1'; in from each side on the bottom part of the console there are phillips screws. Remove these two screws and the console will then flip up. There are 2 clips, one on either side that attach the back plate to the cabinet. Remove these clips and un plug the lid switch. Tilt the cabinet toward you and lift off. With the cabinet off you can fill the inner tub and watch where the water comes from with a full load. If it is a hole in the outer tub, you have to decide if you want to repair it or get another machine.

I hope this helpsWHIRLPOOL washer model #LBR4132JQ1 leaks on large load not small?
I had a MAYTAG that was still under warranty and I figured out that the

inner seal and bearing was leaking at the center of the drum.

I was told that they would pay for the parts, but the repair person wanted about $150 or more for the labor. It would only do it on larger loads which were more stress on that bearing and seal. It ended up having cracking supports for the drum and was not worth fixing, and

not worth buying another Maytag again. Good luck
I had that problem and it was the liner-(plastic basket the metal drum sits in) not worth fixing. The part is around $100. + labor. It was about 15 yrs old.

My washer isnt working... help please?

my washer was working fine all day yesterday and then on the last load when it switched to rinse there was a loud noise and it stopped working. it will fill with water and thats it. it wont spin or anything. also there is a burning smell, so thats not good. does anyone know what could have happend or know how to fix it?? any info could help. thanksMy washer isnt working... help please?
There is a small male and female coupling on the bottom which spins the agitator. I suspect that may be broken. We had the same problem with ours, a day before we were going on a vacation!! Filled up and did nothing else. Took it apart and found the broken part, went to Sears and got the replacement and put it back on. It was not a pain to replace, it was a bigger pain to put the cover back on the washer so it would not vibrate. Our washer was 12 yrs old, wife was hoping it finally bit the dust, but got it to work.My washer isnt working... help please?
SO WHAT WAS THE PROBLEM WITH YOUR WASHER? Report Abuse

sounds like your drive belt went

washing machines aren't hard to work on, just a big pain to get inside of(I think they want you to call a repairman)do your homework on new ones if it is very old you might be better off buying a new one if repair is gonna be to much....call of few places and ask how much to change a belt(total charge)

do you run alot of heavy loads? always consider taking big heavy blankets and such to laudrymats and use their heavy duty washers
Without looking my guess could be a dry bearing. That would account for the noise. If what you smell is more of a burning rubber smell its a drive belt, burnt wiring smell would be in the electric motor that drives the drum. Unless you know someone real handy you will need a repairman. One that you can trust.
Hi: Sounds like your washer died. It's probably the motor burned out(I've had this happen many times). You can call a repairman for an estimate, but you may find it cheaper to buy a new washer. Also, when doing wash, try not to overload the washer with lots of heavy items like towels and jeans..that puts strain on the motor. Good luck!
Well call the company that made the washer, tell them what happened and if they can't solve the problem over the phone, then they should send out a repair man to see if he can fix it. It doesn't sound too good so call the company.
there could be something loose in there or you could have overused it (how old is it) and it overheated melting something inside perhaps, looks like its time to get a new washer

Why did my shirt shrink in the washer ?

The other day I went to forever 21 and got 2 shirts and they are both rayon

I checked the tag on one of them and it said hand wash or machine wash cold and I didn't check the other one cause I figured that they are the same material and you'd wash them the same way

So my questions are next time I wash it, will it shrink again?

And why did one shrink but the other didn't?

Thanks :DWhy did my shirt shrink in the washer ?
It won't shrink again if you wash it in the correct temperature. I hang all of my shirts unless they're older t-shirts and they usually keep the same shape. Good luck! Why did my shirt shrink in the washer ?
Did you put them in the dryer?

If you put them in the washer with cold water, try using it on the delicate/gentle cycle.

    Hang to dry.

  • Areas of solids of revolution by disk, washer, and shell?

Hey there, my question is, what are the guidelines (if any) to approach calculus problems like the ones I mentioned? I have difficulty trying to figure out which method to use... The most complicated are washers and shells, simply because both figures look the same to me, any advice or links are welcome. Thanks!Areas of solids of revolution by disk, washer, and shell?
In mathematics, the key principle is, ';Don't let your eyes fool you..'; Don't look..

When the strips that you chose are PARALLEL to the axis of revolution, then you will have a shell, also called cylinders.. If the strips are PERPENDICULAR, then you will have a disk, also called washer.. So the two methods are the cylindrical shell (choosing the strips to be parallel to the axis of revolution) method and the disk-washer method (choosing them to be perpendicular).. Don't be fooled with how these guys look.. Looks fool..Areas of solids of revolution by disk, washer, and shell?
    Volumes--not areas--of solids.
The disk method is the same as the washer method, actually. Now, the washer and shell methods actually yield the same results. Any solid produced by rotation of an area can be done either way! Just make sure that, whatever method you use, you set up the integral correctly. Now, the problem is that one method might give you an easy integral to compute, whereas another method might give you a very hard one to compute. The question is, ';can you compute the integral?';!!!

How do i get a gas power washer to work after being flooded (hurricane) for several days?

power washer was under water for 3 or 4 days...

How do i get a gas power washer to work after being flooded (hurricane) for several days?
Drain the oil and gas. Change spark plug and while the spark plug is out spray some WD40 or similar lube into spark plug hole.

Refill oil and gas. If it starts, run and use it for no more than 2 hours, then change the oil again. You may need to spray some carb cleaner though the carb also. And clean the air filter.

Then if it craps out then have it rebuilt or buy a new one.How do i get a gas power washer to work after being flooded (hurricane) for several days?
You'll probably have to get it rebuilt. If water got down into the engine, it would start rusting up the cylinders very quickly. Not to mention fouling the oil and the gas. Even if you did manage to get it started, the rust inside would quickly grind away the cylinder walls and it wouldn't work very well or for very long.
Faster, easier and probably cheaper to just go buy a new one. Unless this is a large heavy duty commercial unit. Even then if you fix it you still have a used unit of dubious reliability.
Sorry, but the gas motor must be completely disassembled, cleaned and put back together.
    buy a new one :)

Washer wash cycle does not work?

If a washer wash cycle is not working, is it better to:

    (A) Unplug the washer and check the components or circuits for that cycle or

(b)Keep the washer plugged in on the wash cycle with water in.and check the components or circuits for that cycle

(c)or do you have a suggestion ?Washer wash cycle does not work?
B! Always unplug any appliance before working on it!

    Some things to think about:

Is the machine in a pause cycle? Is the lid up? Washers will not spin or agitate if the lid is up. There is a lid switch probe that can sometimes become dislodged. This is generally a little plastic piece that is in the hole under the lid on the washer. This probe activates the lid switch when the lid is put down. Manually advance the timer if the pause is too long.

There are some washer models out there that will not run at all until the water is filled to the level that has been selected. Sometimes the mechanical timer knob on certain washers doesn't exactly line up with the graphics on the control panel. You can try advancing the timer slightly and pull the knob out again to see if it will start.Washer wash cycle does not work?
Well if you go for (b) you should take into account the fact that water is a good conductor of electricity at domestic supply voltages

It's always amusing to hear of people attempting a 'Darwin Award' ..
Electricity and Water shouldnt mix, so I pick B

I'd try permanent press, high heat or low heat.May washer has 3 settings, high and low agitation, and permanent press. Will any of those help with wrinkles?
Permanent press should aid in that goal. I think it is supposed to spin them less tight.
Permanent press. Then dry on low heat.
Permanent Press will help with wrinkles. If you have wrinkles in everything, it probably means you're putting too many clothes in there. So put in less clothes and then when the dryer goes off immediately fold and hang up the clothes so they can't sit around in the dryer to wrinkle.
    Permanent press will help...

Yes, but put them in a net bag or inside a zippered pillowcase or something.

If they get wrapped around the agitator in your washer, you're screwed ! Also, hang them to dry. If you dryer-dry them, they'll shrink %26amp; get all weird on you.

Personal experience speaking. Can Boxing handwraps be put in the washer?
Definitely. Do put 'em in a mesh bag, though. If you want, you can just wash 'em by hand, too. All you need is a little bit of detergent. I usually wash mine by hand in the bathroom sink because it's quicker, and since I have a few wraps, I leave them out to dry and use a different pair for the next couple of days.
I use to wash mine, and then iron them to get the wrinkles out.
Yeah, absolutley, I wash mine every couple days.

If it smells ';musty';, you have to re-wash it. The smell comes from mold. Do you want to smell like mold when you break a sweat?

If the clothes still smells like the detergent, you can put it through the rinse cycle.

If it is a white load and smells bad, I sanitize it with bleach and very hot water.I accidentally left wet clothes in the washer overnight, should I re-wash or just rinse them?
I've left clothes int he washer overnight quite a few times. It usually isn't an issue if its just one night. Best bet is if they smell, wash them again, if they don't then just dry them. Keep in mind if they smell even just a little bit rewash them. The heat from dryer amplifies smells.
If it was just over one night they should be fine to just dry instead of wasting the water to wash clean clothes. But if it was longer than one night and they smell bad rewash not just rinse.
you can just rinse them and then place them in the drier or hang 'em outside to dry
I have done this MANY times, I just put them in the dryer, doesn't hurt them a bit...but I live in an arid climate so I don't get molding or anything.
You should re-wash them with a cap full of vinegar and laundry soap to get the moldy smell out.
I would just rinse them! Makes em fresh and clean again! Reduces the risk of mould or something!
Thats happened to me before. If they smell Mildewy just rewash them and they'll be fine.
If they don't smell, just go ahead and dry them. Otherwise if they do smell, re wash.
    Just Rinse
shoud be fine, but i tend to just give it them a quick rinse... just because. xx
i say rewash, because they might have mildew.

You have a blockage in your sewer system.. When your washing machine or dishwasher discharges the water is pumped thru the pipes and if anything is blocking the flow it isgoing to go in the path of the least resistance. Bath tub, sink, floor drain in the garage,, whatever is easier... Well it is either, hire a plumber, rent a sewer machine , get a friend and dig up the pipe or tile...It is a smelly job.. it sounds very much like you have a partially plugged drain you may be able to rent a plumbing snake to do it yourself as a cost saving rental center will give instructions will be much cheaper than hiring a plumber hope this helps
Your septic tank is full. Go to Home Depot and buy a box of ZEP drain cleaner and flush it down. Its an enzyme that eats sh_t and makes the water level go down. Try it. It only costs about 4.00.

when i need it or at every 3 monthHow often should you fill windshield washer fluid?
i guess it depends on how much you use it, my car is almost

lol :)How often should you fill windshield washer fluid?
Depending on how much you use it. If they top it off with oil changes, it may never run out. If not I think about 6 months. Up North you probably need more of it with the snowy winters.
Generally it will last a long while. It depends on how often you use it. If your not running out fill every 3,000mi. when you get your oil changed.
    Whenever you run out.

When I get it running, I'm not really getting no pressure coming out. I looked threw the lines to see if anything was clogged, don't see nothing. Water is coming out. What is the problem???I have a craftsman power washer?
Sounds like what happened to mine. I had not drained it totally, and after the winter was over all the o-rings were destroyed. If you do not have a clog, take the pump apart. But be carefull because there could be gear oil in there. I am not sure what model you have but on mine there was a crank with three pistons, on those pistons were the o-rings. If you can remove what you can of the o-rings and get a whole new set, replace them and cover them with petroleum jelly. Put it back together and it will work fine.I have a craftsman power washer?
The pressure washer has a pressure valve on it , make sure its turned correctly. It should be a round knob with an arrow for up and down pressure. Also sometimes the unit is not primed fully. Sometimes starting it with the trigger activated can help to prime it sometimes you just need to start it and let it run for a while befor using it. And some units have a knob to prime the pump.
There are three spring loaded check valves that often get small stones in them from well water.
Internal screen in the pump is clogged

CANT FIGURE OUT WHY MY WASHER PUTS LINT ON MY CLOTHES. IS THERE SOME THING i CAN PUT IN THE WAHER TO CLEAN IT?

Are you refering to a white kinda smeary look on your clothes after you wash them? If so this is probably due to your detergent not disolving completly. You are either putting too much soap in or using a low quality soap. If you are dead set on using powder detergent you need to let the water fill up in the washer a bit and then add the powder and stir to disolve the soap, and then add clothes. But the easiest thing to do is to switch to a liquid detergent. I recomend Purex it's cheap and works wonders, and most importantly no white smeary stuff!CANT FIGURE OUT WHY MY WASHER PUTS LINT ON MY CLOTHES. IS THERE SOME THING i CAN PUT IN THE WAHER TO CLEAN IT?
Could be a tissue in the pocket of something you dried. There shouldn't be any lint on them if your lint filter is cleaned out before use.CANT FIGURE OUT WHY MY WASHER PUTS LINT ON MY CLOTHES. IS THERE SOME THING i CAN PUT IN THE WAHER TO CLEAN IT?
Chances are, the method you use to sort laundry is the problem.

Sort your laundry into piles of like items ... whites, silkies, Levi's, dark colors, towels, rugs ... never mix loads.

When you get ready to do laundry, save the towels, blankets, rugs and other such items for last. And remember to wipe down the washer afterward (or run a SMALL cycle of clean water...don't be wasteful here).
Run it empty thru an entire cycle. But generally, it is the dryer that will pill clothes. Or it's mixing things in the wash like sweaters and towels that will cause lint.
As noted above, I've gotten lint from dirty filters [that was a really old, overused machine in a college dorm]; and from stuff in my pockets [oops]; and I've had too much soap; and dry soap that didn't dissolve when I overloaded the washer and put the soap on top. I also got lint from terrycloth [towel, washcloth, bathrobe, etc.] on almost anything else I washed it with, so I now do ';the bath stuff'; in a separate load.

I don't know of any 'thing' you can put in a washer to stop lint, but I do suggest: 1- Check the filter once in awhile; 2- Be sure all pockets are empty; 3- Use a little less soap, and put it in before your clothes; 4- Don't overload; and 5- Do your terrycloth or other loose, fluffy fabrics separately.
that lint filter that is in the agitator is easily forgotten, by me. So now I got in the habit to clean the washer out periodically, about once a month, and then I clean the filter out well. I was told by a repair man, that the agitator should be loosend occasionally as well, and totally removed and cleaned, that however is stuck, and I am unable to loosen it, the washer is old now, and when the new one arrives it will be the one that sits higher so I will not be getting a backache from bending over any more. That is the best ting since ';sliced bread,'; I am very happy someone finally thought about my back. Consider getting a new washer, it is certain to take care of your lint problem and some other ones as well.
Washing machines have lint traps as well. You need to find the one on your model and clean it out. They are usually located on the center agitator.
you can wipe the washer out after use and that way it won't have a lot of lint in it the next time you use it. or just make sure you empty your pockets before you wash clothes.

also when you dry the clothes, make sure you empty the lint trap before using it each time. or do like i do and empty it after use so you know its empty the next time you use it.
You must have an older typeof washer with a filter in the top where you open the lid. Remove and clean out, if that's not the case you may use a fabric softener, always check your laundry before washing and never put fuzzy bathrobes and towels in with other laundry, try to wash ';like-kind'; fabrics together.
run a cycle with nothing in it it should clear it out
The washer does not ';put'; lint on the clothes. Dry your clothes in a dryer with a clean lint trap and/or get a lint brush or something if it bothers you that much.
Check and make sure there arent clothes that have pockets full of tissue or lil things that could cause lint.

Make sure you never wash clothes with towels. Wash seperately in different loads. Towels are known for putting lint on clothes. Ive been there done that.

Try Running your washer with nothing in it, for one cycle, this may clean it out and give it a chance to get rid of the unwanted lint your getting.
Get a new lint screen, or dryer, you frizzy-haired little wombat!
try cleaning the in side of the machine be puttingyour cloth in it

hope someone can give some advice...

My washer and dryer are new hotpoint models, installed correctly on our laminated floor (wooden floorboards underneath) but they are very loud when in use!

does anyone have any tips on how to reduce floor vibration? Thanks!Washer and Dryer... Make the vibration noise stop !?
You can place a thick rubber mat underneath them. This will absorb some of the vibration but not all of it.Washer and Dryer... Make the vibration noise stop !?
Keep some rubber or such pads beneath. Empty the waste water in the washer chamber only after you stop your spinning.
some felt padding under the 'feet' should help
Make sure it's not off balance. When a washer is off balance, it will shake and sometimes even *walk*
its ur floor or throw a sand bag on top

Go to Yahoo Groups, search for Freecycle in your city. This is a really great way to find good homes for things you no longer need.Who need second handed washer and dish washer which are in good condition?

What will cause the agitator on my g.e. washer to stop turning?

One, try tightening the knob on the top of the agitator. Sometimes, this will come loose.

If that doesn't seem to help, then my next guess is the belt underneath.

If you are mechanically inclined, you can more than likely fix this yourself. If not, you will need to contact a repairman.

Hope this helps. What will cause the agitator on my g.e. washer to stop turning?
Most likely the belt to the agitator has either broken or is worn. You also may wish to check the motor to the belt as well. What will cause the agitator on my g.e. washer to stop turning?
It could be as simple as a belt. Or worse, it could be a frozen transmission. I had to deal with one of those once. It had frozen up and leaked tranny grease all over the floor underneath the washer. Not fun to clean up!

I hope it's just the belt. Much cheaper.
Is it moving at all, just not moving back and forth? If that's the case, it mikght be what they refer to as ';dog-ears'; on the top of the agitator. They act kind of like a rachet to work the agitator right. If they are broke, they are easy to replace. Go to ';repairclinic.com';, put in your make and model, and they can help you with this or other solutions.
The motor is malfunctioning happened to mine once had to have it fixed. find someone you know to fix it can cost a bit to have repair guy come out.
One possibility is a loose or broken belt. They are similar to the belts you find on a car engine and wear out over time or can be just plain defective.
there is a drive belt underneath the washer that may have broken.

If thats the case, a ser vice person, will charge $10.00 or more to replace it. That is before he writes up the service bill.

  • Hot water pressure is bad throughout the house not just at washer and shower, but cold water is fine everywher

if you have 30+ yr old house, and you have steel pipes, they will rust up and have to be replaced, if not, check valve on top of waterheater and make sure its full open, also (what I would do) ischeck for t%26amp;p valve leaking severely or look at meter (make sure no one is using water inside) and see if meter is turning ( possibly underground leak)Hot water pressure is bad throughout the house not just at washer and shower, but cold water is fine everywher
Run water from the faucet at the bottom, and see if flow there is adequate. If so the problem is in cold water line or inlet, the heater or in the hot water pipes themselves.

You could temporarily disconnect the hot water pipe from the heater and see if flow there is adequate. This might necessitate putting a faucet on the hot water discharge pipe.Hot water pressure is bad throughout the house not just at washer and shower, but cold water is fine everywher
    1) you have insufficient water coming into the water heater. make sure the valve on the water heater is full ';Open';.

    or

    2) you have an obstruction near or at the water heater outlet side such as corrosion at the union.
You may have some rust in your pipes or your heater that is slowing down the water. Best thing to do is call a pro and get it cleaned.
Either the hot water pipes need to be replaced or the water heater needs to be replaced.

Is is safe to use a bullet thats been in the washer and dryer?

I accidentally left a bullet in my shorts pocket and it got found in the dryer; It still looks like its in perfect condition but i dont know if its safe to use since its been rinsed and dried. Is is safe to use a bullet thats been in the washer and dryer?
No, you might end up with a squib load and lodge a bullet in the barrel. That can be very expensive for a 20 cent cartridge. Is is safe to use a bullet thats been in the washer and dryer?
I wouldn't recommend using this cartridge. Unless it has been sealed, more than likely the powder got wet in the washer, so it would probably not fire anyways. I wouldn't risk damaging my firearm, or risk personal injury over a single cartridge. Your'e also lucky that the shell didn't fire while it was in the dryer, heat and impacts could've set it off.
More than likely you should be ok. CAREFULLY examine the projectile and cartridge for ANY signs of damage. If you see any deformities or it looks like the projectile is no longer straight in the cartridge - toss it! Afterall, you are only talking a few cents loss vs. the possibility of the round damaging the weapon or you in the process.
It's PROBABLY OK, but are you willing to chance damaging your gun or having the bullet misfire when you really need it? If you reload, take it apart and reload it. Otherwise, I'd chunk it.
Unless it's a .50 BMG round or something else expensive, dispose of it and carry on.
Your worried about one bullet? disgard the bullet and get a new one or box of 50.
Nine X out of 10 its going to be a dud.* You decide what you want to do with it.*
I dont know how it wouldnt it'll probably be a dud but what could it do? put a spin on it so that it will pull a 360 and hit you in the face? i doubt it.
bullets are never safe, silly D=

Looking for a newer washer/dryer set...?

I'm looking to purchase a new or newer washer and dryer set.

I'm looking for a set that is stackable (space constraints), energy and water efficent and affordable. The dryer must be electric.

Any suggestions on good brands/models and where to get a good deal?

It seems that most energy efficient washer and dryers are at least $600.00 or more.

    Thanks!Looking for a newer washer/dryer set...?
I bought one of those expensive, newfangled, energy efficient (water stingy) Whirlpool sets. It was a nightmare. Moldy smelling , lint covered streaked up, wrinkled up clothes that you couldn't hang dry because it took the dryer to get all the lint off. Luckily, Lowes took them back. I did some research before I picked new ones. I got a G.E. Profile top load washer and dryer set.It was hundreds of dollars cheaper and it has almost as much load capacity as the other ones but it has an agitator and uses plenty of water. What I learned is, that it takes WATER to get your clothes clean! What you save on water on the others, you spend on higher priced high efficiency detergents anyway. If you are considering getting a front loader or any of those water miser types, I suggest you put '; moldy smell in front load washers'; into your search engine. I love my washer and dryer. I'm eternally grateful to Lowes for bailing me out of this one. I can't imagine having to keep that set. I think I would have sold it in a yard sale. Pick wisely. It's a pretty long term decision.Looking for a newer washer/dryer set...?
yeah, you're going pay a bit for energy star models. I personally am in love with GE products. We stayed in a vacation house over the summer that was equipped fully in the kitchen with every GE appliance. Just from that I would look for that brand EVERYWHERE else in the house. It's going to cost you, but the work they do is incredible and look nice and last quite a while.
I would recommend a Whirlpool Duet.
try conns or sears they are very resonable you can get a set for around $700.00
Whirlpool make the best appliances of any brand they are affordable and last long with the least break downs of all brands they are known for reliability I believe any model will do for any of your needs and you don't really need those fancy High Efficiency models thats just a way of making you spend more money just a regular top loader or front loader works good and will be energy efficient as high efficiency models are Good Luck !

Hot water in bathtub is froze but have hot water in kitchen and even going throu washer ?

left my water run through the night and only tub hot water is frozen. should i pour hot water in tub or just leave cold runHot water in bathtub is froze but have hot water in kitchen and even going throu washer ?
You have the hot water line that has a draft or is exposed more than your other hot water lines. Running water in the tub will not help, the line is frozen not your tub.

You should have an access panel to the backside of the tub open it and you will see why.

If no access panel do you have a crawl space under the house in that area? if so you will need to insulate that line. It should work.

Try leaving the hot water line drip that is the farthermost away from the hot water heater, that way water will have to flow through all of the line and it is less likely o freeze.Hot water in bathtub is froze but have hot water in kitchen and even going throu washer ?
Your pipes are being exposed to extreme cold in the wall or below the floor. Get a portable electric heater, place near the pipes 8-10'; away....be careful of combustible materials like insulation %26amp; raw wood.......leave heat going 6-12 hrs.....keep checking the faucet.....it WIL THAW SOON! In the spring....SELL the hot tub....I did and we are happier now. SMILES from Michigan! :-)
    Do you heat the bathroom?

It is probably because the pipes in that area of your house are more exposed to the outdoors. Either you could soften your water with salt or you will need to turn the heat up in your house.

P.S. you could always put a space heater in your basement near the pipes if you know where they are
turn your heat up, look for access panel to faucet supply lines. if so place space heater up close to pipes. if you have a basement, locate and warm supply lines.run the hot and cold at all faucets at a fine stream. do not wait for the pipe might burst.
hot water freezes faster than cold. use salt

How do u get into a tap to change the washer?

You'll have to be a little more specific on the type of tap.

Most have a stem nut that has to be removed to access the stem %26amp; seat. How do u get into a tap to change the washer?
If it's the mains tap in your kitchen, first thing to do is turn off the mains water supply. There should be a stop tap somewhere beneath your kitchen sink. If you cannot find this, you may have a tap outside your property on the pavement/sidewalk. Turn the water supply right off.

From this point on I'm not one hundred percent sure.

You need an adjustible spanner. If you look below the tap you will find a couple of nuts. One at the top just below the tape and the other below the bulge thing at the bottom of the tap where it sits on the sink.

Once you've got these loosened up it should be just plains sailing.

Let's hope someone out there knows exactly what they're doing.

Beware of the deluge! How do u get into a tap to change the washer?
This varies depending on the type of tap you have. If you have SUPA TAPS, you can change the washer on these without turning the water off. But if you have the everyday type of taps, you can remove the tap top by either prising off the cap on top of the tap, or by removing a tiny screw on the side of the tap spindle. Make sure the water is turned off before you do this, and open the tap to let any residue water out. Once you have removed the top then you will see a large size nut which you have to undo. Steady the tap so it will not turn while undoing this nut, as it will need some pressure to turn it. You can then undo it, and lift it clear of the tap. If the washer is still of a reaonable thickness, then don't fit a new washer, but turn the washer over to a new flat side. before you replace the washer and tap body, make sure the surfaces inside the tap are clean and there is no grit or dirt left inside. Then replace in reverse order. Close the tap, then turn the water back on and test for any leakage. Good luck.
First turn off the water, then take off the handle. This varies with the design but there's usually a decorative cover with a screw underneath. You should now be able to undo the body of the tap with a spanner (if there's a little nut at the top, ignore it or the spindle will come out).
first un screw your tap then get a spanner undo bolt replace washer
Check out this site. ...Good Luck...

    jim
I hear theres a locking mechanism that gets stuck on it try to find that on it and see.
sounds like the timer is broke
This is very common in washers, I do not remember the name of the part, but I had a repair company come in and labor + part was only $65. The part is less than $2 dollars.
Might be the lid safety switch. There is a hole in the top of the washer that a pin on the lid fits into to push a switch that indicates the lid is closed. If the pin is broken off or if the switch is out of position or faulty the machine will not pump water out or spin...Good Luck...

The switch has to be made (meaning completing the circuit) for the spin cycle to work. So disconnecting it will not make it work.. Connecting the wires together will make it work but is an unsafe condition and I wouldn't recommend it... Luck Again..
It may be the switch when you put the cover down, open the whole top up and unplug it and see if it works then

  • Any moms washing cloth diapers in a front load washer?. how is that working for you?.?

I was thinking about selling my BOSH front load washer and getting a top loader for my cloth diapers. Can you tell me the pros and cons for a front loader. Is there even enough water to get the diapers clean?. Do front loaders have the soak cycle?, and is the sanitary cylce even worth using on the diapers?. My baby is not here yet, just hoping you can share your experience. thank you.Any moms washing cloth diapers in a front load washer?. how is that working for you?.?
front loaders can hinder the washing process with cloth diapers because there's not as much water...but you're actually not supposed to soak them in a top loader before washing them. doing a regular wash always works for us, and they're a bit stained but nothing that laying out in the sun won't fix.

I have read to soak them in a wet pail or at least dunk them and swish them around in the sink before loading them into the washing machine. you want to get them thoroughly wet or otherwise they'll start to stink of ammonia.

    one thing I found:

    http://ezinearticles.com/?How-to-Wash-Cl…

';Front Loader ~ this is the kind of machine I have and here is how I wash my cloth diapers.

Short cycle cold wash cold rinse. Wash cloth diapers through one cold cycle to rinse them off and get any left over feces off of them. No detergent in this cycle

hot wash/hot rinse. Wash cloth diapers on a long cycle with the stain rinse and an extra rinse cycle. Use a detergent free from dyes, perfumes and any additives.

Hot wash/hot rinse. Third cycle to make sure any detergent residue has rinsed free.

The discussion of detergents for cloth diapers is confusing at best. Make sure you get one that is free of dyes, perfumes and additives, but understand you may have to try a few different brands to find one that works well with your machine and your water.

If your detergent is leaving residue on your diapers you will know because one of two or both of these things will happen. Your diapers will start to stink or your baby will get a rash.

    Best way to get rid of residue is to run your diapers through a few cycles in the washing machine with really hot water. If you see any suds at all in the water or on the machine run them through again.';

    and:

    http://euphoriamaternity.wordpress.com/2…

';While some mamas manage to make front loaders work, everyone seems to agree that they make washing diapers a bit more challenging – precisely because they use less water. Think about it: you’re washing something lightweight that’s highly absorbent. The machine automatically gives the load little water, and the diapers suck it up, with only a bit left over in the wash. This can lead to stinky diapers, that aren’t fully clean, and detergent build-up, because of incomplete rinsing.

I cloth diapered with BumGenius Pocket Diapers for about 6 months, washing in a top loading machine. Then, I had to switch to a fancy, top-of-the-line front loader for about 9 months. I immediately smelled a difference! I tried using less detergent. I also changed from doing a pre-rinse before my full hot/cold wash to doing a full cold wash before my hot/cold wash. Neither change seemed to really make a difference. When I was able to switch back to my top-loader, the smell significantly subsided.

Well, I wondered if it was just me until I received an email from a customer who experienced the same smell-issue when she got a new front loading washing machine. After some research online at DiaperSwappers.com, here are some tips for washing cloth diapers successfully with a front load machine:

Don’t use too much detergent – 1 tbsp is a standard, though you may need less

Switch to Tide HE powder detergent – mom’s with top loading machines say they see an immediate improvement when they switch to this product (especially an improvement over natural detergent brands)

Use options for extra rinse, extra water and presoak whenever possible. Anything that puts more water in the load will help avoid the stinkies.

Do at least 2 full cycles (one cold, one hot – both with extra rinses). If you’re still having troubles, try adding a 3rd cycle. This can make a load take 3 hours to wash… which is why a top loader is more convenient.

Tricks for “tricking” the machine to put more water in each load

Use delicate or hand wash cycles, which automatically use more water

Manually shorten the spin between cycles (and never use spin max extract), because the water left in will make the diapers seem heavier to the machine. The machine will respond by adding more water to the next cycle.

    Pour a few gallons of water into the machine through the soap dispenser during the wash cycle. This seems to be the last resort for those that are desperate!';

hope I helped! you can still do it -- just a bit more work than a regular top loader.

    Front load washer and dryer?

Is it true the front load washers and dryers and better than the regular washers and dryers? also if like one of the front load washers has like 3.8. cu. ft. capacity is that alot of space for clothes? i need them to be decent in size i dont want something that ill have to wash alot of loadsFront load washer and dryer?
I have kenmore front load washer and dryer and bought them specifically for its energy efficiency and i think it's worth it because i can wash at least 2-3 loads than the usual top loader. i also don't hurt my back when reaching for clothes.

good luckFront load washer and dryer?
You can't beat a front load washer and dryer. They also treat your clothes better, which saves money there too. 3.8 is a large capacity. The great thing about that is you would be able to wash comforters, bedspreads, sleeping bags, and other large items. Front load machines only use water for the amount it needs to wash the clothes, and it is all done automatically. I would prefer a larger size to have the option to wash anyting I want. The machine takes care o the energy use.
3.8 is huge. That's about as big as you can get.

Front loading washers get clothes cleaner, use less water, less detergent, and less energy. They spin clothes faster, getting them dryer before the cycle is over, so they spend less time in the dryer. They are a great investment.

Does anyone have a front load washer and dryer? Which brands are best? Does the washer hold residual water?

Some front load washers are reported to retain water in the rubber seal around the doors, which causes smelly water. Anyone familiar with this?Does anyone have a front load washer and dryer? Which brands are best? Does the washer hold residual water?
I have the Maytag Neptune front load washer and dryer - I have had them 6 months or so and so far I have not experienced that problem. From what I understand, The Neptune series originally did have the problem you mentioned, but my version has a hole where the water can drain. It has plugged up before - with hair (of all things!) usually after a load of towels. I am very happy with my choice.Does anyone have a front load washer and dryer? Which brands are best? Does the washer hold residual water?
They used to do this. I've had my Maytag Neptune for 7 years and it did this, but the company fixed it for free. You can also leave the door open (remove bulb so it doesn't burn out) to dry out inside. Otherwise this unit is great! Uses much less water. Can be a little noisey, so don't locate near a bedroom and then run washer before you go to sleep!
front loads usually hold more and need less soap. never heard of that problem with them.

Help, my washer isn't working right?

my washer isn't wringing out the clothes like it should. plus there is a funny smell, almost like burning in the tub. what could it be?Help, my washer isn't working right?
These machine 'wring' the water out by spinning the drum at high speed and pushing the water out with centrifugal force. This is done by the motor making the power and transmitting the force to the drum via a rubber belt that goes around the bottom of the drum. This belt can wear out over time or from being overburdened with extra heavy loads. As the belt becomes worn, the grip on the pulleys loosens, and the belt begins to slip. This slippage causes friction and heat and actually burns the surface of the belt - leading to the smell you have described. Replacing the belt is not difficult for the mechanically inclined. An appliance repair man will also offer this service.

    Best of luck,

DadHelp, my washer isn't working right?
Sounds like the motor is wearing out or has something partially jamming it.
Most likely the transmission is dragging and causing the belt to slip.

The inrush on your washer is more than the generator can supply at it's peak voltage so the voltage drops, the current goes up and the breaker trips. Get a better washer and a larger generator.

My phone got wahed in the washer machine will it ever work ??

it depends on the phone's situation at that time. was it on? if it was, then there's a high possibility that the circuits will be damaged. if it was off, then the odds are very much in your favor. however, this needs lots of patience. a lot. Allow the phone to dry out completely. you may have to let it drip dry for a few days (resist the temptation to turn it on). then once a day, while its off, shake it vigorously just to make sure the water inside is removed. don't try shortcuts like placing the phone in the microwave (you'll fry the circuits). a low dryer may help speed up the process but excessive heat will damage the phone. patience patience. hope you recover your phoneMy phone got wahed in the washer machine will it ever work ??

Does anyone know how to drain washer fluid out of a jeep reservoir? If so please help.?

get a seven dollar suction gun from an auto parts store. it lets you suck anything out of anything. its especially good for differentials. or washer fluid reservoirs. and stagnent christmas tree water.Does anyone know how to drain washer fluid out of a jeep reservoir? If so please help.?
it is at most held in place by one screw. it will just slide out of mount. disconnect the hose and the sensor plug if it has one.Does anyone know how to drain washer fluid out of a jeep reservoir? If so please help.?
first see if there is a hose on the bottom of reservoir if not buy yourself a cheap siphon hose with a pmp on it and siphon it into a container.
Push the squirts button, and hold.
Disconnect the hose from the bottle, pointing it downward. Then, turn on the pump via the switch inside the car. The pump will empty it onto the ground, or wherever you have the hose placed. Be sure to shut it off when the reservoir is empty, or risk burning out the pump.

Front loading compared to top-loading washer/dryer. What do you think?

For those who have always had top loading washers and now have a front loading washer...do you regret purchasing it....do you wish you had your top loading washer back? Do you think the front loading is great? What are your opinions? If you have front loading what brand do you have and do you like it?

Front loading compared to top-loading washer/dryer. What do you think?
We bought a front-loading Kenmore washer in 2003 and it has been a delight. I would never go back to a top loader. In fact, we are living abroad for a year where we have a top-loader, and I really don't like it. Here are the things I don't like about the top loader, which is like all other top loaders I've seen:

    - It's far noisier

    - It uses a ton more water

    - It uses a ton more detergent

    - The clothes don't come as clean

    - The spin cycle makes a huge racket and half the time it sounds like the spin cycle is going to wreck the bearings.

    - The clothes come out feeling wet because the spin cycle on top-loaders is so much slower than on front-loaders, so it costs us twice as much to dry it.

    - You don't have the pleasure of watching the clothes and soapy water tumbling around. You can stick a two year old in front of a front-loader for a good 15 minutes before they get bored. Probably better for them than TV too!

When I went shopping for my front-loader, I noticed that many different brands had models that looked almost identical, just a few different buttons or different cycles on the dials. It turns out that the front loaders sold by many of the major North American brands are all made by the same company in China, and each brand just orders a set of washers with different combinations of features - trying to avoid particular combinations that any other brands might have chosen. That way you can't make an apples-to-apples comparison of the features that matter to you, and there are all these funky sounding features you don't really need, which makes your job of selecting the right washer harder, and makes the salesperson's job of conning you that much easier. The key is to go into the store already knowing what features you want, and ignore other features you don't need. The key features I would recommend are:

    - Hot, warm and cold wash (warm rinse is of no value in my opinion)

    - Two spin cycle speeds

    - Delicate, normal, and permapress cycle

    - Delayed start (to take advantage of cheaper, or at least more environmentally benign, night-time electricity)

I don't think there's anything else that really matters enough to enter into the decision.Front loading compared to top-loading washer/dryer. What do you think?
Front loaders suck. I clean for an NBA player and he just put 4 sets of them in his house and I hate them. Some of the clothes come out in balls. A contractor said it's because they don't have the agitator on them like the top loaders do so they don't shake the clothes and well. I personally do not care for them!!!!!!!!!! Whirlpool Duet
recently switched to a whirlpool brand front loader, I absolutely love it, My clothes come out much much cleaner, The only draw back is keeping it clean, If it is neglected it can start to develop an odor. BUt it saves energy i use hardly any soap and my clothes come out noticeably cleaner
personally i like top loader style. the front loaders usually keep the cloathing above water as where the top ones have the little twister that pulls clothing to the bottom in a cycle.
I wish I had a front loading washer. In my opinion it gets the clothes cleaner. I hate my top loading washer...but it was what we could afford

  • What do you think about Paul Washer?

I think he's amazing. What do you think about Paul Washer?
He says some very profound things that need to be said. America needs to hear and heed his message. God BlessWhat do you think about Paul Washer?
    I don't like him.

He says things like your profession of faith is worth absolutely nothing... that's absurd.

The Bible simply says '; if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.'; Romans 10:9

He comes way to close for my tastes to saying that we are saved by works. He twists the truth of the Bible. We are saved by grace not works.

Paul Washer mixes living a holy life with the doctrine of salvation which may sound alright to some but it really can be dangerous. It diminishes the power of the cross and the power of Jesus himself to change our life. Jesus is the only one who can change us. We cannot change ourselves.

Listening to Paul Washer is good way to doubt your salvation. When you will sin (and you will), Paul Washer's words will echo in your mind... ';are you truly saved?';... ';you are a sinner, you don't really have faith';. I believe this is dangerous. Such thoughts come from the devil and we should dismiss them immediately.

When we sin, we don't lose our salvation. We may lose our happiness and communion with God but we cannot ever lose our salvation. When we sin, we should not focus on how we do not have enough faith or how unworthy we are before God. The truth is that God simply wants us to repent and continue to try live a holy life.

Is it Jesus through his sacrifice that erased our sins or is it our repentance? If it is our repentance, what's the purpose of the cross?

Faith in Jesus is our salvation. Repentance and obedience is just proof of our faith!

Putting more emphasis on repentance over faith is the same as putting work before faith! We are diminishing the power of the cross.

People of other religions repent of their sins every day and still aren't saved because they don't know Jesus.

This is an important verse that shows that righteousness comes from God, not from us:

    ';This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.';

    Romans 3:23

In fact, I think Paul Washer should read Romans 3 over again (that's supposing he ever read it)... Maybe he should look if there is boasting in his life because of his ';righteous living';.

    ';Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. On what principle? On that of observing the law? No, but on that of faith.';

    Romans 3:27
Interesting. Sort of the Arminius of Evangelicalism.
I think Paul Washer twisted a lot of scripture.
A powerful preacher with a message from God. Well worth a listen:
